Almost a week long event with myriad of subparts was conducted with the first being
Ever wondered if you could pick up a child’s wish and fulfill it to your best possible ability? A wish that sparklesโจin his/her eyes , a wish waiting since long to be even heard, let alone being fulfilled……
Our collaboration ๐ซwith VSO, MAHE had just this opportunity to help the underprivileged children from Manpita, Jamshedpur.
From 27th to 29th of September the wish tree was placed in the premises as it bore the wishes of children in the approximate age range of – 5 to 15 years.โฝ๐๐จ๐๏ธ
Faculty members and even students could choose a wish or more and either bring the concerned item or pay beforehand with the volunteers handling the procedure ahead.
โ๏ธ๐๐ค๐๐ก- Instilling a sense of achievement and happiness in the innocent children with reinforcement of the values of caring and sharing.
Aims and Objectives of the Wish Tree Project
The Wish Tree Project, organized as a part of Daan Utsav, is designed with the intention of nurturing a spirit of generosity and collective responsibility within society. Its aims and objectives are:
๐ฒTo cultivate a culture of giving and sharing by encouraging individuals from diverse backgrounds to contribute towards fulfilling the needs and aspirations of the underprivileged.
๐ฒTo instill empathy and social awareness among participants by allowing them to directly engage with the hopes and requirements of those less privileged.
๐ฒTo provide a transparent and impactful platform for giving, where contributors can identify specific wishes and personally take part in fulfilling them, ensuring accountability and meaningful outcomes.
๐ฒTo promote inclusivity in social responsibility, enabling participation by educational institutions, corporate organizations, community groups, and individuals alike.
๐ฒTo celebrate the joy of philanthropy, transforming the act of giving into a positive and enriching experience for both the giver and the receiver.
๐ฒTo create sustainable social impact, by embedding values of compassion, kindness, and responsibility that extend beyond the festival and influence long-term community behavior.
Importance of the Wish Tree Project :
๐The Wish Tree Project holds great significance as it stands at the intersection of compassion, community participation, and sustainable development. Its importance can be understood through the following points:

Since it was a 3 day session followed by cross checking and packaging tasks , volunteers took turns in ensuring that the wishes are fulfilled, maintenance of record, finances, items received.
๐๐๐บ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ:
The volunteers had a strong passion for carrying out this event ensuring every child receives their respective gifts.

A few challenge which arose had to be cleared and communicating effectively helped us in overcoming those challenges.

Though the volunteers were not entirely acquainted with each other owing to students from different batches involved in this activity, a common cause united us and helped in building rapport with the children and among ourselves.

Maintaining finances and payment records is a task of great responsibility which all the volunteers took without hesitation and performed transparently.
๐๐ฉ๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ธ๐ถ๐ป๐ด:
The element of visionary thinking cannot be denied here as all volunteers shared a common goal of fostering good values and bringing a change in the community, setting examples for both , the children and the fellow peers.

Have you ever wondered what it feels like to bring a childโs unspoken wish to life? Thatโs exactly what the Wish Tree Project (27thโ29th September, 2024), in collaboration with VSO & MAHE, sought to achieve for underprivileged children from Manpita, Jamshedpur.
A tree bearing wishes of children (ages 5โ15) was placed on campus. Faculty and students could pick a wishโwhether a football, bat, art supplies, or moreโand fulfill it directly or contribute financially. What may have seemed like a small gesture to us became a cherished dream realized for a child.
๐ฏ Goal: To spread happiness among children while reinforcing values of caring and sharing.
Aims & Objectives:
Cultivate a culture of giving and social responsibility.
Build empathy and awareness by connecting directly with childrenโs aspirations.
Ensure transparency and accountability in the process of giving.
Encourage inclusive participation across students, faculty, and volunteers.
Celebrate the joy of philanthropy beyond Daan Utsav, fostering sustainable community values.
Impact & Importance:
The Wish Tree bridged inequalities, raised awareness of real challenges, and inspired inclusive contribution. It strengthened community bonds and promoted long-term compassion, proving that giving brings joy not only to recipients but also to givers.
Leadership Skills in Action:
From communication, delegation, problem-solving, and relationship-building to visionary thinking, time management, and integrity, the volunteers demonstrated teamwork and dedication. Despite challenges, their shared goal united them, ensuring every child received their gift with love.

With efforts from VSO, NEST members (Haneen, Sanjana Jha, Shalini Mishra), and faculty coordinators Dr. Vijay Kautilya D. & Dr. Khushboo Juneja, the project was completed successfullyโleaving behind not just happy smiles, but also a legacy of compassion.
